Meet Our Camp Team

Günther

Welcome to English Camp World! My name is Günther and I am the Camp Leader.

I am half English, half German. I grew up and was educated in England and also lived and worked for many years in Berlin, Germany. I am a leading expert in educational language travel.

I have been organising language travel and holiday camps for young students for more than 30 years now. Tens of thousands of students from all over Europe have enjoyed the benefits of participating in one of my English camps in many countries including Germany, Switzerland, Luxembourg, Ireland, Scotland and England.

I am co-author of the book Games for Children, published by Oxford University Press. I am also a teacher trainer and consultant. In 2017 I developed a new English camp program for the University of Guadalajara in Mexico.

In my free time, I like swimming, hiking, playing golf, cooking and writing poetry. I have a healthy sense of humour and fairness. I am genuinely interested in all of my camp students and it is my greatest wish to support them in helping them learn and grow.

Beccy

Hi there! My name is Beccy and I’m from Newcastle upon Tyne in the North of England.

At the moment I’m studying media communications and culture at Keele University. Alongside this I have been teaching English as part of my TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) course.

I’m excited to be working as a Camp Guide at English Camp World this summer.

My hobbies include drama, photography and film. I have a great sense of humour and a very positive attitude. I like to make sure all of my students feel comfortable in class and enjoy themselves.

Sonia

Hello everyone! My name is Sonia and I'm from Staffordshire. I am a professional childcare expert and have been working with children for more than 20 years. I am also the mother of two sons, Nico and Luke.

In the year 2000 I founded the very popular and successful Tettenhall Green Kindergarten and later and I opened the TGK After School Club. I have also trained and worked as a F1 foster mother.

In the past 5 years I have worked in English holiday camps for children and teenagers in Germany. I have experience teaching English and as a tour guide.

At the camp I will be responsible for the pastoral care of the students. I have been trained in risk assessment and health and safety laws. The well-being and safety of your child is of paramount importance to me and the camp team.

In my free-time I like playing scrabble, swimming, visiting old castles and ruins, learning about English history and baking cakes. I love spending time with and taking care of children and teenagers and I'm really looking forward to the camp!

Ruby

Hi everyone! My name is Ruby, and I’m from Leicester in the Midlands of England.

I’m currently studying modern languages at the University of Edinburgh and have recently completed a TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) course. Outside of my studies, I work a lot with youth groups, where I have training in mediation and child protection and a lot of experience running fun and educational workshops.

I enjoy working with children and I’m really looking forward to being a Camp Guide with English Camp World this summer and meeting young people from all over the world.

I love the arts and all things creative, from music to poetry to crafts, and I really enjoy being outdoors and exploring nature. I also have a passion for history. I’m friendly and enthusiastic, and I can’t wait to meet you all!

Meet Our International Camp Team

Our team of Camp Guides is made up of professionals, who have many years of experience working with children and teenagers. All English Camp Guides are native speakers. The Camp Guides are responsible for giving English tuition and accompanying the students on all excursions and activities.

The Camp Team also lives in the same accommodation as the students and is available at all times.

Beccy

Hi there! My name is Beccy and I’m from Newcastle upon Tyne in the North of England.

I recently graduated with a first degree in media communications and culture at Keele University. During my studies I also gained a lot of experience teaching English to groups of children and adults from different countries. I have TESOL (Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages) accreditation. I am now a fully qualified teacher and I work in a secondary school in northern England where I teach geography.

I’ve been working as a Camp Guide at English Camp World for three years now. I'm really excited about working with teenagers and young adults and know how to motivate my students to improve their English skills.

My hobbies include drama, photography and film. I'm also learning Russian - a language I fell in love with last summer, when I met and got to know students from Belarus and Russia. I have a great sense of humour and a very positive attitude. I like to make sure all of my students feel comfortable in class and enjoy themselves.

Mariana

Hi there! My name is Mariana and I am 20 years old. I come from Guadalajara in Mexico. I grew up in the United States and Mexico and I’m bilingual. I am certified as a CELTA teacher by Cambridge University.

I started working as a teacher-aid in an after-school program when I was fourteen. Two years ago I worked in a school as an English teacher for children from three to five years old. Kids amaze me because they are such quick learners!

In the last three summers I worked as a Camp Guide in the Summer Camp of Laureate International Universities and at ENGLISH CAMP WORLD. These were definitely unforgettable experiences. I learned different teaching techniques focused on young learners and I also learned a lot about the students themselves.
